Most music theory text books are pretty heavy reading!
Looking back at my music theory exercise book, from my classical guitar lessons, from when I was around 8 years old - it is clear I didn’t understand the fundamentals. Needless to say I didn’t last long in formal lessons.
I moved on to playing new songs from tablature and eventually by ear, as I progressed and gained experience.
Then I hit a wall! 🛑
Without any fundamental understanding of music theory, there was something significant missing!
Keep Things Simple
Music Theory is more straightforward than you might think. I have only just realised this after playing for over 30 years!
I wrote ‘Music By Numbers’ to help me decipher the concepts and visualise the notes and patterns on the screen. In using the software myself I have unlocked a wealth of knowledge that I had completely overlooked!
Soon after playing with the software I was able to record new songs and solo phrases that I never would have come up with before.
I believe ‘Music By Numbers’ is the key to reaching the next level in your playing.
It makes so much more sense when you understand what you are playing and why you are playing it.
I hope you enjoy it! 🎸
